Beach egg

Found this today on the Severn estury. The tide was out, it was found just below a pile of seaweed. It had a soft seaweed feel to it.

        Hi

I cannot understand the pointed end, in my experience marine fish excluding the shark family lay round eggs, its possible its a Turtle egg but the shape to me  is wrong, did the shell feel soft and leathery

Here is a site on which I identified as Basquesteve (thats where I live) a Turtle egg on the Channel Islands
