Twin leaf plant/shoot

WP_20140705_003[1].jpg

Hi,

As you can see I have the above shoots growing in a pot and I don't know what to do with them.

They seem to sprout as soon as I water the pot.

I have searched Google high and low but to no avail. Are these weeds or are they useful house plants?

Please help me by identifying them.

Many hanks...MadNad

    Re: Twin leaf plant/shoot

You're seeing the fist ('seed') leaves, which are usually different from the normal ones. Until we see the normal ones, it is generally difficult to make a reliable ID (there are some plants that are actually recognozable at the seed leaf stage, such as beech.)

However, if you unearth a seedling, you may find a remnant of the seed from which it germinated - from which we might be able to give you a clue.

    Mike
