I'm tempted to think it is in the Bignoniaceae, perhaps Tecomeae, but I can't find anyhting with such bracts.
Any seed (from last year, on the ground)?

It is Dipelta, but I'm not sure about the species/cultivar. If pressed, I'd go for D. floribunda first, D. yunnanensis second, D. ventricosa last - based mainly on flower colour and bract shape. If the bark is pale brown, exfoliating in long strips, that favours D. floribunda.
