Strange rock - natural or not?

Can anyone advise me about this strange rock I found on the coast of Northumberland.  It seems amazingly heavy for its size.  It's smooth with shiny pebbly bits in it, and the inside seems to be of a different metallic-type, dark-coloured rock which appears to have been molten.  Do you think it's natural or manmade?

    Lynn,

    That is very strange.

I certainly don't recognize it as natural. I suspect it is man-made (such as industrial waste), but I still can't suggest its actual origin.

Could be a burrow infill ! and if the last update for the operating system had not changes the settings on my computer I would show some images of similar specimens from the Holderness coast.

I really must go to bed...

I just re-read your original post, Lynn. The last bit where you wrote 'Do you think it's natural or manmade?'

I read as 'Do you think it's natural or marmalade?' !

        Made me smile!

              Hi Lynn

You won't be dissapointed with the NHM, very family orentated and 'hands on' a great day out.

Took the grandson a couple of months ago for the first time (and his dad) and had a fantastic day to say the least.

I have attached a couple of images, I hope it's ok.

First - standing in the que waiting to go in.

              Second holding a massive shell.
