Hi anybody know what this is. We found it at Lepe beach which is on the south coast opposite the Isle of Wight. It is approximately 45mm in diameter. Any information would be much appreciated.
It makes me think of one of the cupped sponges, such as Astraeospongia meniscus, but I'm not convinced.

Hi Mike thanks for that. The pictures do look similar but I'm not an expert. The underside looks to me like it has lots of tentacles like a mini jellyfish. I think I will scour the Internet at the weekend for pictures.
