Can anyone identify this bug? I think it is some form of beetle? It is tiny, probably about 2/3mm long, brown and shiny in colour.
We have had them in our back extension (built last year) for the last few days now and initially thought they could be fruit flies? The room is a dining room which is cleaned daily, so there is no food left out for them to feed on so I feel this rules out fruit flies.
I think it looks more like a beetle or woodlouse rather than a fly. After researching in this website, I think I can rule out the biscuit beetle but think it could be a woodworm beetle?
They can fly but they seem to just like sitting still on the ceiling and window frames. We have been killing them with fly spray and then hoovering them up once thy are dead but new ones keep arriving...we haven't had more than 15/20 at any one time though (but this maybe because we keep killing them!)
I have attached some photos of one of the bugs to see if you can help identify. The third attachment is the best as I have enlarged the image.
If anyone can help identify these bugs and/or offer any advise, I would greatly appreciate.
I suspect it will need better pictures than these to enable an identification, but it doesn't look right to me for furniture beetle (the adult of woodworm). The antennae are far too long and the body too wide.
