Does anyone know what kind of fly this is? Could it bite or is it harmless?
We have found a lot of them outside on our windows and they are about 1cm in length.
It's a bibionid, probably Dilophus febrilis. Nothing much to worry about, though the larvae can be a minor pest in gardens. They live in the soil and adults emerge at this time of the year. They'll all be gone soon.
Thank you for the answer
