Hello, We live near a large creek that floods often and new things wash up. We found this today and it looks like a canine tooth but it seems large to be any animal that lives in western N.Y. The base looks as if it were cut off rather than broken because its a smooth edge. I would appreciate any feedback, thank you.
The tapering end of the tooth is the root and the flat end is the crown, the bit that sticks out into the mouth. The reason the flat end looks smooth is because it is worn with age. My best suggestion for animal type would be pig.
