Could someone help me identify this spider? It's made itself at home in our bathroom and has been there for a few weeks. I've also noticed one in the kitchen and have spotted a baby as well.
Still not really sharp enough for an ID I'm afraid.
My guess though is that this could either be Statoda bipuncta (rabbit hutch spider) as the palps are very evident in one of the photos & the band around the abdomen remains narrow seems to cut off sharply. Or a young Steatoda nobilis, as the stripes on the legs fade as they mature.
Typically referring to common "house spiders" we usually mean Tegenaria species (the longer legged spiders that scurry about at high speed), but of course, other species are also commonly found in houses. ;-)
