I found this large fossils log in Ossett, West Yorkshire, UK and it is carboniferous in age. It come the clay hill, which is just a few metres away from the sandstone, where I find most of my fossil wood. It has been repaired several times, and it has a hole as well as bark loss on the back, but it is my best plant/wood fossil from the clay hill, but I have found calamites in the sandstone which are better.
Is it plant or wood? Have you any idea on the species? It Is 6 and a third inches long.
