Hi, I found a small dead shrew in the garden, I belive identification
is something to do with the teeth or jaw, but cannot find any information,
any help with where to look as google only seems to find one page of shrew photos.
I guess its a common, but have no knowledge about any other species.
Thanks of any advice Dave-P
Subtle differences in their dentistry have to be examined when dealing with say, jaw bones from owl pellets, but in this case hair colour and tail:body proportions may get you close to an id.
This might be helpful to refer to: http://www.erccis.org.uk/Resources/ERCCIS/smallmammals.pdf
The Shrew is all in one piece, and very small, so with the site you indicated
I should be able to ID it ( tomorrow in daylight, its possiblely a Pigmy ).
