Just wondered if anyone could confirm if these are false widow spiders or not?
I am having a new carport in the area they have made their nests.
These are all examples of Zygiella x-notata or the missing sector orb-weaver spider - very common and harmless and often found around buildings, paticularly window frames and sills, porches, sheds etc where they make their orb webs.
More info and pics here: http://srs.britishspiders.org.uk/portal.php/p/Summary/s/Zygiella+x-notata
The distinctive web is shown here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zygiella_x-notata
