Spider identification

Hi, could anyone identify this spider, please? My girlfriend noticed it crawling on her leg. I was painting and brought in step ladders from the garden. I imagine that's where it came from, as there was a web on the ladders, as well as several smaller spiders.

    Re: Spider identification

    Hi Cal,

It's a harmless, missing sector orb weaver (Zygiella x-notata almost certainly), they are very common indeed on the exterior of houses, window frames especially ...but will make homes on just about any little used item around the property: climbing frames, bicycles, ladders...even car wing mirrors.

    Regards, Mark.
