Identification of beetle

Hi

I have noticed these beetle in my living room behind my leather sofa at the edges of the skirting board and laminate flooring. We have had them for around 6 months or so which I Hoover up but then a few weeks later they are there again. Ok have attached a picture of one of these bugs sorry my camera is not very good. There is usually about two of these then little brown hairy maggot type of insects some are alive some dead and some empty so I am assuming they are what turn into these beetles. I can try getting some more pictures to post if you can't identify from this picture. Any help would be much appreciated. Also I have an akita which sheAds fur that collects like cotton wool and theses worm like creatures are usually caught up on this not sure if maybe the hairs attract them

These are carpet beetles and the brown maggots are their larvae known as wooly bears. The beetles don't do any harm, I don't think, but the wooly bears are destructive to carpets etc. I think they probably do like the shed dog hair.

I can't recommend how to get rid of them as I don't like to kill anything!

    Hope that helps.
