Spider Identification

I recently started to face my fear of spiders - actually prompted by this false widow stories going about.  I have learned a great deal about them, and feel all the more better about them as a result.

I have, however, noticed a rather ugly looking spider on the gate to my garden, which I cannot identify.

I know it's not a false widow but wonder if someone here could ID the spider for me?

I have attached 2 pictures of it.

Many thanks,

    Re: Spider Identification

    Hi Florian,

This is the rabbit hutch spider (Steatoda bipuncta), it is one of the false widow species, but is generally considered harmless & not a biter.

    Regards, Mark.
