My fiancee spotted a spider in our bedroom last night and promptly killed it, as she knew I am phobic to spiders. She took a photo of it and is interested to know if it is the false widow spider or not. Also, with all the press, rumours, stories and hype about this creature, how or what is the best way to get the correct advice about this, how to deal with it and so on? I have attached the photo for your perusal.
Thank you for all your assistance with this, I really appreciate it.
That is the best we can get since my fiancee killed it! Even as an arachnophobic I cannot kill spiders! But she did as she knows of my fear. So sorry, but that is the best picture.
It may well be a general house spider. I guess with the local paper reports of a mass invasion of the false widow spider everyone in the local area is on edge about the false widow spider, including myself, and any spider is now considered a false black widow to those that do not know the differences in spiders. Then there are the reports of people being bitten, having limbs on the brink of amputation, muscle enlargement, babies being bitten and so on. Makes you think of when Jaws the movie came out and as soon as anyone got spooked by any marine creature, Great Whites were to blame.
I have no problem with spiders, as long as they stay out of my home. But when you have an 80+ year old house, with a loft, etc etc etc, spiders are going to make a home somewhere. I have even had a spider crawl across me in bed when I was asleep! Anyway, thank you for your reply and your information, I really appreciate it.
