Both are Zygiella spp., probably Zygiella x-notata in this instance. This is a common and harmless spider that has great value as a controller of more nuisance species of household pests. There is nothing to worry about with these, or indeed almost all other UK spiders.
Thankyou very much. I hate the recent press. Making people freak out and lots of perfectly safe spiders probably being killed for no reason. I'll continue my pint glass and paper trick and evict them safely.
