I found these at Spurn Point, East Yorkshire, and they look like
chrysalises they are a sort of silver colour and were just in a chalk meadow.
Please tell me if they are chrysalises and what they will turn into, or
what they are if they are not chrysalises.
These are indeed chrysalids, of burnet moths.
One can't tell the species, but here's the six-spot burnet moth as perhaps the most likely candidate
