Can anyone help with a couple of moth IDs?:
1) A couple of weeks ago, in the garden:
2) One from last October - looked as if it was on its last legs!:
The first one is Large Yellow Underwing (Noctua pronuba), a bit variable but this one is one of the lovely typical forms.
The second photo is not really so worn per say. Its Large Ranunculus (Polymixis flavicincta).
Hope these are helpful to you.
Many thanks for the reply - very helpful.
I'm quite new to moth IDs, so knocking off a couple of the common ones is really useful!
No Problem Mike,
You'll be old hand at it in no time
