    1 & 2

'desert rose', a form of gypsum (in general could also be barite)

    3&4

    an echinoid (sea urchin)

somebody else may well give you a better ID

looks like a cruziana trilobite track

    Hi folks,

Top two Gypsum as Mike comments 'otherwise known as 'desert rose', second two images are echinoid internal molds - please can you take a photo of the top of the echinoid? I will try to improve on the echinoid identification when the other orientation is provided.

I see why Mike suggested the last image looks like cruziana tracks, but the surrounding matrix looks more like lava to me - but might be slag or something else. It is difficult to tell from the photo.

    All the best,

    Fiona

      Thanks for your input Fiona.

Yes - the bottom one might, indeed, be slag or lava.

Bimbo - I note your saying it is light in weight. That made me lean away from slag/lava.

But maybe it contains a lot of holes? If so, are they distinct bubbles or more ragged cavities?

Does it contain obvious crystals? (dark crystals in a dark matrix may only be 'obvious' by crystal faces glinting in the light of the sun or an artificial light)

I might as well ask: is a magnet attracted to it?

      Mike
