Large grey moth - help identifying please

Hi

Can anyone help me with a large grey moth I have found?

It is about 45mm long from head to wing tip.  It has a whiteish hump behind its head with black bars on the sides.

Its body is large, pale underneath, black sides, orangey brown bars on top.

It holds its wings arrow style while at rest, but not too tight to the body.  More hawk-moth than prominent.  Each wing has 3 very distinctive black lines on each wing.

Seen today (10 July) in Dorset, UK - near Salisbury so this is chalk grassland.

Given the size of this thing I'm amazed I can't find it in my books or on Google.

Probably being daft.  Can anyone enlighten me - what have I found?  Thank you.
