Grasshopper identification help required.

I would be very grateful if someone would be kind enough to identify this grasshopper for me, spotted on a new meadow area created by Surrey Heath council.

  • It's tricky with nymphs, as you have here,  but the very straight side keels of the pronotum suggest either Meadow Grasshopper Chorthippus parallelus or the Lesser Marsh Grasshopper Chorthippus albomarginatus.  The latter speies, in spite of its English name, can occur in quite dry grassland, and it is also more likely to be an early colonist of new habitat than the usually flightless Meadow Grasshopper.
