Pretty Moth Cornwall

Hi There,

 

need help identifying this moth please :-)

    Nice one - not very common, and nicely photographed.

     

    It is a lobster moth, Stauropus fagi.

    Look at the photo of the larva, and you'll see where it gets its name.

        You're welcome.

        To some extent I can do my mothing vicariously through other folks such as yourself!

        To be honest, though, I'm way behind IDing my own moth sightings (photos) at home here in Cyprus. I can tell myself I can catch up over winter. I think I tried that last winter...
