Is anyone able to identify the two species of dragonfly and the damselfly in the attached photographs? They were all photographed around the margins of lakes and pools in a park named "Forest Trails" just north of the Haller Wildlife Park. It is an area of woodland bordering the coastal Mombasa to Malindi road close to Shimo la Tewa.
As with my other posted questions my investigation of the internet has not provided any answers.
I don't think the red is Trithemis kirbyi. So far as I am aware, Trithemis have a solid black pterostigma, and also a fairly narrow abdomen. The broad, flat abdomen on this one makes me think of Crocothemis, and with the yellowish pterostigma I'm going with one of my defaults, Crocothemis erythraea.
In Trithemis kirbyi, I believe the yellow stain at the base of the wing is much more expansive, spreading about a third of the way down.
