Can anyone help, we have just found larvae in our contorted willow tree. The larvae has created a soft white wax coating covering the holes and cracks in the bark where they are. The larvae are about 8-10mm white/cream in colour.
Two pictures showing the larvae wax coating, the hole on picture two is where the larvae seems to keep open. A week earlier a lesser stag beetle had been seen at the same area. Wasps and flies seem to feeding from the tree sap.
