S. Nobilis ID & advice with pets

Hi all,

Apologies for yet another S. Nobilis thread. I don't even have a decent photo of the offending character. My main reason for posting is concern over my two Siamese cats who are fairly adept spider hunters. How much of a threat to a cat would a false widow be? I appreciate there can always be unusual reactions in a small number of cases but I have no baseline here.

I found what I believe to be a male S. Nobilis in the cat's litter tray this morning; no photo unfortuntely but the abdomen wasn't disproportionately huge, but it had the non-stripey light-brown coloured legs and the cream mark on the front of the abdomen. I've just found another, slightly smaller one, up in the top of my conservatory and there appear to be some much smaller/baby ones running around too; but no chance of getting a photo of those.

The web seems to show traits of what this species likes; flat/hammock suspended webs. There's also a tube-shaped one which hopefully you can make out on the photos I upload. Appreciate the photos are barely useable.. Not sure I want to be provoking them too much to get pics.

An thoughts/opinions? Not really worried myself about being bitten, just the cats.

Thanks for your advice
