For the past couple of weeks I've been waking up with small itchy bites, however my husband is not affected. I sometimes wake up itchy during the night but when I turn the light on, I can't see any bugs biting me. I've inspected all of our bedding, mattress, etc for bed bugs but haven't found anything. I went on a late night hunt for bed bugs and found two different bugs crawling on the carpet. They don't look like bed bugs - I think one might be a moth larvae. I'm worried the other one is a flea. We have a cat but she has been flea treated and doesn't scratch. Please help - these bites and this mystery is driving me crazy! Sorry that the pics aren't great quality.
second image looks fles-ish,
third is a carpet beetle larvae.
fleas bite anyone, you may not react as bad as your partner, are these bites ankle areas..?
easy flea trap for identification is a small, flat round candle in a saucer of soapy water. the flea jumps towards the heat source then takes a bubble bath.
Hi, thank you for your help! The bites are mostly on my hands and arms which are outside of the bed when I sleep. I have been sleeping with the window open so I'm still not sure if it's something flying in and biting me. I will try the flea identification trick you suggest. Thanks :)
1st and 2nd images are of a psocopteran, AKA Booklouse or Barklouse - these are non-biting insects and all homes have a few, usually in bathrooms or kitchens. Bites with windows open will probably be mosquitoes. You can retro fit insect screens to prevent access.
