Could do with some help with this small twiggy tree's identity.
The leaves reminded me a bit of cotoneaster types but I'm stuck I'm afraid. Fortunately it's flowering but the ID still eludes me.
Any help appreciated.
It is pineapple guava, Feijoa sellowiana
It comes from tropical and subtropical parts of S. America, but is widely grown in Mediterranean climates worldwide. For the UK, it must be quite unusual, I would think. For fruiting, it has trouble below -5 Celsius, and -10 would probably kill it. More cultiral advice here - http://www.elliotts.co.nz/feijoasgrowinginformation.html
You're a star.
It's a species I've heard of but, alas, didn't think to look up.
Thanks a million,
You're very welcome!
I am familiar with the species only because a friend near Limassol grows them.
