They have been known to bite humans if handled. Their bite is less painful than a bee sting and the venom causes no major medical problems. Localised itchiness at the bite site has been reported in some cases.
I had one of these in my kitchen previously, a very vivid red colouring! My understanding is they can give a nasty nip so be careful with it, the fangs on the one in ours were big enough to be visible clearly so i stayed well clear n got hubby to remove!
