This was on Centaurum nigrum in West Sussex, 17/07/10, and by calculation from the 1:1 macro ratio used, was 2.9 mm long - rather bigger than I thought mites were. Any chance of an identification?
I know mites aren't spiders, but there doesn't seem to be a more appropriate discussion category!
This may be a Balaustium murorum (see this post: http://www.nhm.ac.uk/natureplus/thread/1735).
