I found these rocks which looked like ammonite fossils at Marske By the Sea on the 19th April .
I was hoping for an ID confirmation of both of these ? I am really interested in what they could be .
The first two images are of a lower Jurassic 'oyster' called Gryphaea sp, probably Gryphaea arcuata.
The last one could be a gastropod (snail) but i would need some more images for a better i,d.
Still not decided on this one! could be a Gryphaea in the mouth of an ammonite.
Nature has tried to take it back with a lot of worm burrows in the specimen but I think it has made it more interesting.
I love Marske as well but it's a 200 mile round jurney, thankfully when you hit the beach in the rite conditions a bag full is on the cards!
