help with identifying a fifteenth-century representation of a plant please

Can someone help me identify the plant twining around a tree in the upper right of a late fifteenth-century Italian print which I am researching? The engraving shows Hercules and Antaeus. I am attaching an image of the print and a detail of the plant. I cannot find any reference to plants associated with Hercules, however am wondering if it could be laurel, used to signify virtue and victory. I am attaching an image of the back of Leonardo’s portrait of Ginevra de Benci, which includes a representation of laurel. I would be very grateful if someone can help with the identification of this plant or can point me in the direction of any useful literature.
