Any help would be much appreciated!
I moved from central Manchester today to a new home in South Wales, in the middle of the country side.
The first time I went upstairs after dark I found a few of these on the walls - a couple in one of the bedrooms, 3 in a bathroom and 1 in the hallway.
I expected to see more creepy crawlies in general but these have freaked me out a bit....just hoping they're not cockroaches!
About 2 cm long, reddish brown in colour (they hace since been hoovered up so can't be inspected again).
Most definate a garden insect, not a pest. Spring is here with open windows, lol.
many many gaeden insects. this looks similar to a lily beetle or a soldier beetle but the colours are wrong.
never the less, capture these and release them.
This looks like Oedemera femoralis.
I have found them in the house before (most recently in Feb), and I would assume they are trying to find their way out after overwintering. They are naturally nocturnal.
They are completely harmless to humans and home, and don't need hovering up, just helping outside.
