Can anyone please identify this grub thing please?
We keep finding them in our house and always in clothes on the floor, so far we've seen about 10 in the last 2 weeks!
It looks like a wireworm - the larva of a click beetle (there are many species)
But there are other (beetle) larvae that look a bit similar.
If in doubt about such things, get your local council's pest control officer to take a look. In this case, it would be quickest to take it to them, rather than wait for them to come to your home.
Why in clothes on the floor, I can't say.
Hmm, my first thought was that it was a mealworm, the larva of a Tenebrio species like T. molitor. I can't see the dark spot near the rear end which I thought was characteristic of wireworms. Also, the legs look too long.
If it is a mealworm check the contents of your pantry for infested food.
Yep, 'jags' on the ball this is a mealworm larva - the larva of the mealworm beetle. They are less likely to infest food cupboards these days and are more associated with old birds nests up chimneys or in loft spaces and bread that has been dropped down the chimney by birds.
Thanks so much for all the help, turns out they're coming through our fireplace (not in use) and there's lots of seeds in the back too so maybe a bird nesting up there! Thanks again for the excellent advice.
