Hello everyone, I was just looking for some clarification. I found about 5 of these chaps outside our back door in Essex today. Can anyone positively identify it? Thanks in advance.
Yes, looks like Steatoda grossa. Can give a painful bite, so treat with care, but not agressive or dangerous as such.

The pale markings on the abdomen prove it to be S.grossa
?This one has no pale markings on the abdomen, and indeed, adult female S grossa rarely do. Males and immatures often show the pale traingle marks however.
Yep, no pale markings, the white marks are reflections of the camera flash. It was a brownish red in sunlight.
It appears I jumped the gun.This pic is easy to id but the flash photo fooled me. I think this is a female
