Found this guy in a ploughed field in Croatia. Could anyone tell me what it is.
Ps: sorry for the lack of a scale. It is about 2 cm long.
Thanks in advance
It is a rose chafer, Cetonia aurata
Their range includes 'southern and central Europe and the southern part of the UK where they can be very localized' (http://www.nhm.ac.uk/nature-online/species-of-the-day/collections/our-collections/cetonia-aurata/distribution-habitat/)
The only other one like that is the noble chafer, Gnorimus nobilis, but that has a differently shaped scutellum (paragraph 5: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cetonia_aurata)
ok , thanks alot
