Fossil Identification Help Required

Precious Object 01.jpgNew pics attached can you please help to identify. I think it looks like a leafy sea dragon but really would like an expert opinion. Thanks

    Re: Fossil Identification Help Required

Your stone contains fragments of fossil seashells, either a bivalve or brachiopod. There are hundreds of species, and many of them have shells covered with ridges, and it is those ridges that give the serrated/wavy edge you see in your specimen, cut at a very oblique angle by the surface of the stone.

The pinkish colour will probably be due to some iron in the calcite mineral that now comprises the fossils.

But a 'sea dragon' sounds much more fairytale-ish.
