I found this fossil at Craig y Nos Country Park in the Swansea Valley a while ago. I have searched my books and online to try and identify it, but with no success. Can anyone help?
It is a coral, seen in slightly oblique cross-section.
Many thanks for your attention and helpful reply.
Mike is dead rite as usual so a very nice find, well done.
I think it is a solitary coral called Rugose?
Could be a Devonian rugose coral called Aulacophyllum but there are many different types.
Nice find well done.
I hope you do not mind but I have attached an image of one I found on the Holderness coast that I cut and polished.
Many, many thanks for this. It is a fabulous picture. I appreciate your help and information.
