I recently found this strange rock that looks perfectly like a fish! It is strange and so beautiful and yet I have no idea what it actually is.
It was found on the shore of Harkstead beach in Suffolk on the river Stour, buried under hundreds of rocks.
It is a bit bigger than a 50p piece.
The 'eye' is a mould of a sea urchin ambulacral plate, the socket in the middle being the mamelon

The two parallel marks are probably moulds of sea urchin spines.
The rock looks like it is made of flint or chert.
