It's of that group of spiders - the Family Agelenidae, but rather than one of the 'House spiders' proper = Tegenaria spp. I think this is the Labyrinth spider, Agelena labyrinthica. Same family, so similar looking, but a different genus. This is a widespread and common spider, not common in homes, but does turn up occasionally. They are much more at home in 'the shrubbery'.
