Is it rare to find fossil wood as big as this one?

Hi,

I was just wondering, is it rare to find fossil wood as big as this?  It comes from Ossett, West Yorkshire, UK and it is carboniferous in age.  It is 8 inches long.  It has a few chips because some of it was in the carboniferous cole formation, but it is not a common find, but I don't know if it's 'rare.'  I think it is some kind of horsetail plant.
