What kind of spider is this?

Intrigued to find out as it's pretty big!

Looks like one of the Drassodes species otherwise known as 'Stone spiders'. They are nocturnal hunters spending the day in a silken retreat under stones and other clutter near ground level. Like many spiders that live in this environment heavy rains can flood them out of their retreats and in looking for 'dry land' they frequently crawl into our homes. They will find little food in our homes and would much prefer to be outside.

They can give a surprising bite and have quite strong venom so best to capture with a glass or other container, or try MWJB's cone of paper.
