Fossilised tooth from a full diameter core?

Hi All,

While working with a full diameter core I came across a "different" grain that looks very much like a tooth. Please take a look on the images below.

Any idea of what animal are we talking about? My first thought was to take it to the National History Museum for an expert to take a look and after reading a bit I found this forum

The 2nd picture just illustrates the place where I think I found it. Actually the tooth came out of the rock when we were cleaning the core surface with an iron brush. The rock is an unconsolidated sandstone.

Many thanks for any feedback.

Kind regards,

royalgeologist
