Saw this in Turkey the other week. Weird insect and you can gauge size by the wasp. There were a couple of wasps hanging around it and not sure what they were doing with it - didn't seem to be attacking, more checking it out if anything.
Appreciate any ideas!
It is a mole cricket.
There are several genera and more species.
I think yours is the European mole cricket, Gryllotalpa gryllotalpa.
It is an interesting observation, since some other species of wasp parasitize mole crickets,
