This almost looks like a tulip bulb but it's quite small- about the size of a small horse chestnut. It feels almost-metalic to the touch. Found in the North East of England, on/near the coast.
Interesting find Caroline well done.
It sounds like it is preserved in the mineral Iron Pyrites (is it heavy?)(fools gold) and it looks to be the internal mould of something - looks quite crisp and unworn.
Thank you so much for your response. It's not particularly heavy, probably about the same weight as a large conker. It's cold to the touch though.
It was found on the Eston Hills, about 5 miles from Redcar beach.
