Hi, i was wondering what spider this is. I thought it might be a missing sector spider but it doesnt seem to have a missing sector web. Ive got a few of these dotted around and they look to live in a little coccoon of fine randon silk in the corner of my walls. I was wondering if it could be one of the types of false widow but not sure which type.i have some smaller ones that look more red / brown on their legs and have less distinctive markings on their back but am thinking they are all related. All seem to have a black stripe on their underside. Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks
It is a Zygiella species and probably Zygiella x-notata. When not in their web they live in a silken retreat, that's where you will find them by day. These retreats are usually in the corners of window frames, beneath the sill, crevasses in fence panels etc.
