Rather well preserved fossil wood

Is it quite rare to find a piece of fossil wood this well preserved?  I found it in ossett, West Yorkshire, UK and it is carboniferous in age.  I know it isn't really worth much, but I just wanted your opinion on how well preserved it is.  On the pictures, it doesn't look that good, but when you actually see it it lookes amazing.
