Have you any idea why this piece of petrefied wood is such a strange shape? I found it recently in Ossett, West Yorkshire, UK and it is carboniferous in age. I have been finding a lot of good things lately- 1 small fossil tree trunk, 3 medium ones and that huge one which I am currently digging up. Is it that shape because it's a fossil root? Or could it be it bent over before fossilization?
