Spider id please


I'm interested to know what type of spider this is.

It was on a window ledge, about 15mm long, very untidy web in gap between window ledge and wall.

    This is one of the Lace Web spider, Amaurobius sp., and looks most like Amaurobius similis from this image. Looks like she is in the process of making her lace web.


    This spider is occasionally implicated in bites, but usually only the males when they wander looking for a mate, but there are usually no symptoms associated beyond the shock of being bitten. I class this as a harmless species - like almost all UK species.
