We found this fossilised tooth today on the banks of a reservoir in Suffolk. Can anyone help identify it please? It looks like a molar, and as thouhgh it belonged to a herbivore...
I think it's a woolly rhinoceros tooth although it could be off a modern animal like a cow.
If it is really hollow it is modern, but if it's quite heavy it's a fossil.
I have a couple of similar teeth from a peat deposit on the Holderness coast that I am told came from a Horse.
They are black in colour and very heavy for there size.
Nice find! well done.
